All-American swimmer Riley Gaines has been at the forefront of defending women’s sports after tying transgender competitor Lia Thomas at the NCAA championships.

In contrast, pro soccer player and former USA team member Megan Rapinoe argues that biological males do not pose a threat to women’s sports.

Gaines said, “I can respect opinions that differ from my own and everyone is entitled to think/speak independently, but I can’t help but think Megan Rapinoe would genuinely shiv any male who tried to take her spot on the US Women’s National Team.”

Riley Gaines was recently ambused and assaulted during an appearance at San Francisco State University where she delivered a speech defending women’s sports from biological males.

Rapinoe has argued that trans athletes should be allowed to participate in sports of the opposite biological gender in order to reduce suicide.

“They are committing suicide,” Rapinoe said about transgender children. “We’re talking about kids.”

“We’re talking about people’s lives. We’re talking about the entire state government coming down on one child in some states, three children in some states,” she added.

“Life is the most important thing in life,” Rapinoe told Time Magazine. “And so much of this trans inclusion argument has been put through the extremely tiny lens of elite sports. Like that is not the way that we need to be framing this question.”
