After a years-long investigation, Hunter Biden has been criminally charged in connection to his illegal overseas business dealings that involved his father, President Joe Biden.

The disgraced presidential son pleaded guilty to federal charges as part of a special deal with the U.S. Justice Department that allows him to avoid prison time related to a gun felony. Hunter pleaded guilty to two counts of willful failure to pay federal income tax. However, the more serious gun felony charge carried a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison.

Hunter illegally possessed a firearm while addicted to crack cocaine. He tested positive for the drug and was discharged from the Navy in 2014.

Prosecutors will reportedly recommend two years of probation. After admitting to the illegal firearm, Hunter will “enter a diversion program” and “he will not technically be pleading guilty to the gun charge.” This structure allows him to avoid prison time.

The plea agreement is widely viewed as a corrupt and politically motivated deal because other Americans are regularly “dragged through the mud” by facing the full consequences of their criminal actions.

Senator Josh Hawley of Missouri responded by saying, “So Hunter Biden gets a special plea deal, slap on the wrist – probably won’t do a day of time – while DOJ charges Trump as a spy and tries to put him in prison forever. Two standards of ‘justice.’”

President Donald Trump reacted by saying our system is “broken” and called Hunter’s punishment a “mere traffic ticket.”

“Wow!” Trump said. “The corrupt Biden DOJ just cleared up hundreds of years of criminal liability by giving Hunter Biden a mere traffic ticket. Our system is BROKEN!”

Legal scholar and law professor Jonathan Turley of George Washington University reacted to the “historic” plea deal. “It is historic in the sense that the president’s son is going to plead guilty to criminal acts,” Turley explained.

“It’s going to be very controversial for critics. I think for many, this is going to look like you ticketed the getaway driver after a bank robbery,” he added. “This plea deal has the makings of an avoidance of any jail time,” Turley said. “But more importantly, it was an evasion of the more serious allegations facing Hunter Biden and the Biden family.”

A total of nine members of the Biden crime family received money from shady overseas business entities, including two of President Biden’s grandchildren.

U.S. Attorney for the District of Delaware David C. Weiss found that Hunter “did not pay the income tax due for either year in 2017 and 2018. According to the firearm Information, from on or about October 12, 2018 through October 23, 2018, Hunter Biden possessed a firearm despite knowing he was an unlawful user of and addicted to a controlled substance,” Weiss added.

“A federal district court judge will determine any sentence after taking into account the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors,” Weiss’ office said.

In a statement, the White House said, “The President and First Lady love their son and support him as he continues to rebuild his life. We will have no further comment.”

The federal investigation against Hunter was launched in 2018 after banks flagged suspicious activity reports (SARs) regarding large incoming wires from “China and other foreign nations.” In 2019, the FBI subpoenaed a laptop and hard drive belonging to Hunter Biden in connection with a money-laundering investigation.

Just weeks after the 2020 presidential election, Biden publicly acknowledged he was under investigation related to his taxes.

Many scholars and political commentators agree that the investigation into Hunter Biden will heavily politicized. Americans who faced similar investigations have receive far worse consequences, including 5 to 10 years in prison.

With respect to the more serious gun charge, the investigation found that Hunter purchased the gun in 2018. Police responded to an incident in 2021 where they found that a gun owned by Hunter had been thrown into a trash can outside a market in Delaware.

A source told Fox News that Hallie Biden, the widow of President Biden’s late son, Beau, and who was in a relationship with Hunter at the time, threw a gun owned by Hunter in a dumpster behind a market near a school.

When purchasing the firearm, Hunter lied on the transaction report by answering in the negative when asked if he was “an unlawful user of, or addicted to, marijuana or any depressant, stimulant, narcotic drug, or any other controlled substance.”

Despite the seriousness of the crime, the investigation was needlessly prolonged for many years until President Biden was inside the White House and Hunter ultimately faced no meaningful consequence.
