CBS anchor Tony Dokoupil expressed impatience with Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas regarding the ongoing U.S.-Mexico border crisis.

Dokoupil highlighted the challenges faced by Democratic leaders and questioned the Biden administration’s refusal to discuss specific Republican ideas to address the issue.

Tony Dokoupil said, “Democratic leaders — mayors, governors — they’re struggling. Abbott, Governor Abbott in Texas, is busing people to different states.” (Trending: Pro Sport Announces Shock Decision On Transgender Athletes)

“What is the White House going to do to come to the aid of your fellow Democrats who say, ‘We need help’?” he then asked Mayorkas.

Mayorkas responded by mentioning approved funding for local authorities but also criticized Texas Governor Abbott’s approach.

“Is that the type of patriotism and governance that we expect of our officials?” Mayorkas asked Dokoupil.

“I think that both parties are playing games and have been for decades on this issue,” said Dokoupil.

“But you’re not talking about the fundamental point of contradiction, Republicans want a stop to the flow — with very specific ideas! You’re not even talking about those ideas this morning! And so, both sides are playing politics, as they have been for a very long time,” he continued.

“I would respectfully disagree with you,” said Mayorkas.

Dokoupil emphasized the need to address the fundamental contradiction and specific Republican ideas to stop the flow of illegal immigration.

The exchange showcased the ongoing political tension surrounding the border crisis.
