The U.S. national junior hockey team won the 2024 International Ice Hockey Federation world junior hockey championship, defeating Sweden 6-2.

The team’s proud singing of “The Star-Spangled Banner” after the victory garnered praise.

“The guys played excellent today,” head coach David Carle said.

“It’s a joy for them.

“They focused on getting to this game and playing their best for the last game of the tournament and I thought they did that. It’s a great honor to be a part of a winning team.”

This marks the sixth gold medal for the United States in the under-20 international tournament.

The team’s display of patriotism received positive attention on social media.
